A salt lake in Kazakhstan, a water bird reserve (including the northernmost population of pink flamingos in the world - up to about 60,000 individuals).
Most likely a remnant of glacier or tectonic movements. The "pixels" visible in the photo are of course farmland. The size of the main reservoir is 75x40 km. By the way, for the first time in the history of Soviet cosmonautics, a successful landing (launching) of the space crew of the Soyuz-23 expedition took place there.
